The name describes a destination more than a single road. Many venues sit in ground-floor units of commercial buildings on the link road: Zomato lists The Urban Foundry and Nawab Asia at the Cummins India Office Campus, Apache High Street at Panchshil Business Park and Independence Brewing Company in the Park Grandeur building. Zomato files the area as “Balewadi High Street, Baner”, which is why listings use both locality names; Baner and Balewadi share the 411045 PIN code.
Wikipedia’s Balewadi entry describes the High Street as a recent attraction where upscale restaurants and pubs have set up, drawing party-goers. From Dasara Chowk, OSRM’s walking profile puts the core of the strip at about 0.6 km, roughly eight minutes on foot.
How it grew: offices first, then food
Offices are a big part of the story. Panchshil Business Park, “just off the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway”, covers 2.7 million sq ft. Its 1.1 million sq ft Phase I was developed by Panchshil Realty and sold to Cummins for its India headquarters, and the 1.6 million sq ft Phase II, owned with Blackstone, was commissioned in January 2021 (Panchshil release via PR Newswire). The mix runs from a brewpub and bar-restaurants to pan-Asian and sushi, North Indian and Mughlai, South Indian bar food, and cafés and dessert shops. The venues below were listed as operating on Zomato’s Balewadi High Street page when we checked on Friday, 23 October 2026, with that day’s hours.

Hours change by day and a listing is not a review, so check before you go. The strip also hosts events: Safa Banquets on the High Street held the Saptapadi association’s Durga Puja from 16 to 21 October 2026 (Punekar News).
Noise and late nights
Pune’s pubs and clubs are permitted to stay open only until 1.30 am (Free Press Journal), and several venues above list closing times between midnight and 1.30 am, so departures and cab pickups run past midnight. Noise also carries across the river: in late 2022, residents of six Balewadi societies complained to Wakad police about bars there playing music past the 10 pm loudspeaker limit, and police fined a pub and took the case to court (Pune Pulse).
Enforcement does happen. In May 2024, after the Porsche crash in Kalyani Nagar, the PMC took encroachment action against 13 establishments, including pubs, bars and restaurants, in Baner and on Balewadi High Street (Punekar News). To judge a flat:
- Visit on a Friday or Saturday between 11 pm and 1.30 am, not on a weekday afternoon.
- Check which way the bedrooms face relative to the strip and any rooftop venue.
- Ask the society whether residents have filed noise complaints, and what came of them.

Traffic and parking
In April 2025 the traffic police banned parking on both sides of the road from Balewadi High Street to Park Xpress Housing Society, and put the stretch from Park Xpress to the PMC P1–P2 parking zone on an odd-even day system (Punekar News). In August 2026 residents named Dasara Chowk, Mamta Chowk and Radha Chowk among the congested junctions, citing missing signals and auto-rickshaws gathering outside IT offices after hours (Punekar News).
Unfinished roads add to the pressure. In February 2026, 1.8 km of the 5.4 km Balewadi–Kaspate Vasti road still needed land acquisition, with about ₹92 crore of compensation planned (Punekar News), and the Baner-Balewadi Citizens Forum has sought a traffic impact study before that bridge and the metro open (Free Press Journal).
- Confirm how many covered parking slots come with a flat, and where visitors park.
- Check the approach to the society’s gate on a Saturday evening, not only on a weekday.
- Note where cabs can stop safely; on a no-parking stretch, pickups get messy.
Safety on and around the High Street
Baner Police Station covers the Baner–Balewadi area. At a March 2025 police–citizen meeting its senior inspector announced a zero-tolerance policy, promised more patrolling in high-risk areas and asked residents to call 112; residents raised public drinking near Ashtavinayak Chowk (Free Press Journal). We found no published crime figures for the High Street itself.
So judge it on foot: walk the route from any flat you shortlist at night, checking lighting, footpaths and where people wait for cabs. Footpaths are a known weak spot in the wider area: in May 2026, vendors and parked two-wheelers outside the Balewadi PMPML depot were pushing pedestrians onto the road (The Bridge Chronicle).
The Balewadi High Street metro station
The Line 3 station named Balewadi High Street, planned as Laxmi Nagar, is about 0.5 km from Dasara Chowk. It is one of six stations left out of the first opening (Free Press Journal), and the Pink Line station list shows it as expected in March 2027, a date we could not confirm officially. Until then the nearest stop will be R K Laxman Museum Balewadi, 0.8 km away, in the first phase, which was still awaiting inauguration on 23 October 2026. What living within walking distance is like
The upside

- A walk to work if you are based in Panchshil Business Park or the Cummins campus.
